Jaquez Family Scholarship Fund Dinner

On April 13, 2023, the Latino Alumni Association and the UCLA Alumni Association celebrated the launch of the Jaquez Family Scholarship Fund.

The Jaquez Family is the embodiment of what it means to be a Bruin — with hard work, education and heart being the pillars of their success. They are role models for the Latino community and the Bruin family. Jaime Jaquez Jr. has been a cornerstone for the UCLA Men's Basketball team over the last four years, while younger sister Gabriela Jaquez recently began her collegiate career on UCLA's Women's Basketball team. The UCLA stars’ grandfather and granduncle were teachers; Jaime and Gabriela's mother, Angela is a middle school teacher after spending many years as a kindergarten teacher. The family has spent endless hours supporting their children, following them at the gym while prioritizing academics.

The celebration took place in the Pavilion Club on campus at Pauley Pavilion Presented by Wescom. The evening included a reception featuring a live mariachi band as well as appearances from Joe and Josie Bruin, followed by a plated dinner from the Newport Rib Company and an evening program emceed by legendary Bruin voice Josh Lewin.
