The UCLA Alumni Association invites you to volunteer at UCLA’s Arthur Ashe Legacy booth at the 2023 U.S. Open in New York.
This yearly tradition brings more than 80 UCLA alumni and friends together as ambassadors at the booth, which attracts hundreds of spectators eager to learn more about the impact Arthur Ashe '66 had in the tennis community and beyond. The booth highlights Ashe’s life, which was devoted to social justice, civil rights, health and education. In 1968, he co-founded the National Junior Tennis & Learning Network, which brings tennis and educational opportunities to youth. In addition to his humanitarian and philanthropic endeavors, Ashe was also the first African-American male athlete ever to win the U.S. Open, Australian Open and Wimbledon.
Our goal is to educate visitors on the legacy of Arthur Ashe through educational resources such as stories, brochures and historical coloring books. In addition to raising awareness, merchandise is sold at the booth which supports the work of UCLA’s Arthur Ashe Legacy fund.
Join us this summer and experience one of the most prestigious tennis events in the country while making a positive impact in sharing Ashe's story.
