Lake Arrowhead Update: Line Fire

Dear Alumni

Sept. 8, 2024

Yesterday afternoon, we recommended that all guests at the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge conclude their visit and depart due to the nearby Line Fire, which had started near Running Springs, about 20 to 25 minutes from the Lodge. While there was no immediate danger and no evacuation order for our area, authorities did call for evacuations in Running Springs, where several staff reside.

Given concerns about potential road closures and with many guests having arrived by bus, we felt it was prudent to advise an early departure. All guests voluntarily left, with a few who departed this morning. As a precaution, Monday and Tuesday arrivals have been rescheduled, and we will make further adjustments to later arrivals, if necessary, based on evolving conditions.

As of last night, local authorities issued an evacuation warning for Lake Arrowhead, though roads remained open for safe exit. The fire had grown to 17,500 acres by this morning, but winds continued to push it away from the Lodge towards San Bernardino. We will continue to provide timely updates to our staff and guests regarding the fire situation and appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time.

Sincerely,
UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge
