Allan Meltzer, M.A. ’55, Ph.D. ’58
Allan Meltzer is the John M. Olin Professor of Political Economy and Public Policy Carnegie-Mellon University. He has been a visiting professor at Harvard, University of Chicago, University of Rochester, the Yugoslav Institute for Economic Research, the Austrian Institute for Advanced Study, the Getulio Vargas Foundation in Rio de Janeiro and is currently an adjunct professor at the City University, London. His reputation in the field of money and capital markets has brought frequent assignments with Congressional committees, as a consultant to the President’s Council of Economic Advisers, the U.S. Treasury Department, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and to foreign governments and central banks. Meltzer is the author of more than 120 publications and is founder and co-chair of the Shadow Open Market Committee and the Shadow European Economic Policy Committee.
Meltzer received his degree in economics from Duke University before earning his M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from UCLA.
