Laurence McFalls ’83

Laurence McFalls was first attracted to UCLA by its international relations program within the political science department. His skills in independent research and writing have been equaled to the best ever submitted at the graduate level, according to his professors. One of his papers was selected for publication in Politicus. A member of the Political Science Undergraduate Honor Society, McFalls is a Regent’s and Chancellor’s and will graduate with College Honors status.

Since entering UCLA, McFalls has proven himself a superior student while extending considerable time to extracurricular activities and assuming positions of leadership. He is founder, president and program director of the UCLA Jazz Club and a member of the University Chorus and Men’s Glee Club. He also served as an AAP tutor and an instructor’s aid at the Center for Afro-American Studies.

Next year, McFalls will study at the University of Besançon in France on a Rotary Graduate Fellowship. He has been accepted to study for his Ph.D. at Harvard.
