Mark Kapczynski

Mark Kapczynski '93 is the Founder/CEO of Totalix – a consumer-centric healthcare data company. Totalix aims to helps consumers to manage and reduce their overall out of pocket healthcare costs.

Kapczynski last served as head of strategy and business development for Envestnet:Yodlee Data & Analytics. The focus was to leverage Yodlee data to help solve for retail “Path to Purchase.” He also worked to establish Yodlee’s forays into new markets of consumer credit and healthcare data.

Kapczynski served as VP of Corporate Development and Strategy for Experian's consumer businesses, which include leading consumer brands Experian, FreeCreditReport.com, and ProtectMyID. Through executing numerous M&A (Merger & Acquisition) transactions, he helped to facilitate Experian’s underlying growth and profitability. Kapczynski was also responsible for the roadmap of product features mapping to market and consumer needs. Most of this effort centered on moving Experian from a legacy, browser-only offering into a more modern native mobile application and platform. A key element was rapid design and development along with flexibility to add and change features, as well as integrating several data/ad tracking components.

Kapczynski serves as an Executive Director of the UCLA Venture Capital Fund, helping to foster innovation connected to the university, including early stage investing, mentoring, and access to intellectual property from UCLA patents.

As part of the L.A. Chamber of Commerce’s Bixel Exchange, Kapczynski advises startup businesses. He assists technology startups in Southern California to design their businesses, ensure product-market-fit, build out their teams and raise capital to fuel their growth.

As a part-time venture partner at Arrowroot Capital, Kapczynski focuses on investments in the SaaS market in need of growth capital to further develop their businesses. The areas that he addresses are Big Data and Analytics, Financial Services, and Consumer Internet.

Kapczynski earned a B.A. degree from the School of Theater, Film and Television and continues to be active in multiple industry associations that span media, mobile, data, technology and consumer internet. He has 12 patents to his name and an additional 40 patents pending. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children as well as car racing and playing the drums. In addition, he enjoys helping close the gap between the perception that the launch of a start-up is an impossible dream and the possibility of actually doing so.
