Ana Lepe Vick '05
Ana Lepe Vick '05 is working to end preventable stillbirths in memory of her middle child, Owen Nathaniel, who was unexpectedly stillborn in 2015 at delivery and is the reason she describes herself as "entrenched in the maternal health world."
"There are 21,000 babies stillborn every year (that die in the womb after 20 weeks of pregnancy), many after low risk, healthy pregnancies like mine was," she said. "These vulnerable babies could be saved with improved care, education on prevention (like kick-counting programs) and awareness of stillbirth. The charity we founded along with other bereaved parents, PUSH for Empowered Pregnancy, is also supporting two bipartisan national stillbirth prevention bills we'd like to help get passed this year and has spearheaded bringing the Rainbow Clinic model to the U.S., as well as offering a Pregnancy After Loss training for providers (focused on trauma informed care)."
