Andrea Lynn Kushner '93
Andrea Lynn Kushner '93 of Manhattan Beach, California, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
Kushner was born in 1971 to Sheldon and Carolyn Kushner in Cincinnati, Ohio. As the child of a military doctor, she grew up all over the Southeastern United States.
An academic at heart, Kushner attended Phillips Academy at Andover and then headed west to continue her education. She earned a B.A. (cum laude) in political science at UCLA, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She then obtained a J.D. from the USC Gould School of Law and finally, an LLM in taxation from Loyola Marymount Law School.
Kushner practiced law with several of Los Angeles' most prestigious law firms. In 2015, she joined Bernstein Private Wealth Management as a director and senior vice president. Her passion for knowledge and the practice of law were only outshined by her brilliant personality and ability to connect with clients. Kushner was a much sought-after speaker at estate and tax planning Conferences all over the country and was an integral member of the California estate planning community. She posthumously received a lifetime achievement award from the California Lawyers Association in November.
Outside of her professional life, Kushner had a relationship with her children, Benjamin and Carrie, that any parent would admire — they were "family first" and the best of friends. They loved to travel as a family, especially to Hawaii, their favorite destination. Her spirit lives on in these bright young adults who, family and friends feel, are destined for greatness just like their mother. Kushner touched the lives of many, and she will be missed profoundly.
Kushner is survived by her two children, her father, Sheldon, and brother, Allen. She was predeceased by her mother, Carolyn, and stepmother, Lynn.
