The UCLA Alumnae Sip & Share Series aims to build a strong and supportive network of women that choose to uplift alumnae. This year’s series focuses on the optimistic, creative and innovative spirit of our Bruin women. In this piece of the series we will be featuring Corissa Hernandez '06, owner of Xelas, Nativo, & Legacy Full Circle Financial.

With not just one, or two, but three full time commitments, Corissa Hernandez has left an everlasting mark for the community around her and beyond with Xelas, Nativo, and Legacy Full Circle Financial. A product of Mexican immigrants, Corissa worked as a Los Angeles public school teacher during the height of the recession, but didn't let her teaching stop there as she is currently involved educating lower income families about financial literacy; Corissa is consistently working to create opportunities for entrepreneurs from underrepresented communities unfamiliar with the competitive landscape of business ownership. She has also established herself as one of the few female forces in a predominantly male industry to the degree of being featured prominently in the Los Angeles Times, ABC Vista LA, LA Magazine. Her work with Xelas, Nativo HLP, and Legacy Full Circle Financial, stand out prominently not only for their successes but also because they are “woman of color” owned businesses. Corissa works tirelessly to maintain the value of what she’s created in what are not only heavily male influenced industries but also underserved and underrepresented ones, she also pushes the value of community and emphasizes the significance of contributing to one's own community. Corissa, considers "Xelas", a safe place she's built in order to give back to her home of Boyle Heights. A firm believer in leveling the playing field for anyone who wants to jump into the game, Corissa is truly a sight to see when she’s at work for her community.

Join us as we learn more about multifaceted alumna, Corissa Hernandez ’06. She will take us on a virtual tour of her bar “Xelas”, and will then speak about the history behind what she’s built and the missions that drive her work in a conversation with past ULAA president, Soleil Delgadillo ’09.
