About

“Morning at UCLA” is the major annual event of Las Doñas. Every March, Las Doñas presents “Morning at UCLA” featuring speakers from various UCLA schools and departments followed by a reception and luncheon. Guests have a chance to become more familiar with Las Doñas and consider possible membership in the group. Themes from past “Mornings at UCLA” include: “The Languages of American Popular Music,” “The Rise and the Fall of the Jingle,” “How Costume Design Influences Fashion,” “Changing Face of Africa,” “Scandinavian Film at Home and Abroad,” “Regeneration–Behind the Scenes for Stem Cell Biology,” and “Exploring the Da Vinci Code.”

Las Doñas is also a proud supporter of UCLA’s “Spring Sing” and presents the UCLA Las Doñas Award for Best Band.

In addition to the general meetings and “Morning at UCLA,” individual members have broadened the scope of their University involvement by participating in volunteer opportunities at UCLA. Members participate in Alumni support groups such as Gold Shield, Prytanean Alumnae, Westwood Women’s Bruin Club, The Affiliates and Faculty Women’s Club. They are members of the Chancellor’s Society and Friends of English. Members have also served on the boards of the Alumni Association and the UCLA Foundation. Several members received Alumni Association Distinguished Service Awards.
