Mentorship

The UCLA Latino Alumni Association (ULAA) is calling for students to join our newly expanded OrgullOSO Mentorship Program. We invite you to be a student mentee for the 2020-2021 academic year. More info below!

What is this and who are these Bruins?

This is a unique opportunity for current UCLA Latin@/x students who are interested in specifically building a one-on-one relationship with a Latin@/x alum who become their mentor by coaching, demystifying and providing tips on how to navigate the college-to-career pathway. Mentors will also be a sounding board to listen to any issues or ideas you may have on your personal or professional growth. The ULAA alumni base is 40,000+ and we’re expecting a lot of Bruins to offer mentorship!

What do you have to do?

  • Complete the application by Friday, October 16th, at 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time)

  • Make the time. Once you’re matched, it’s recommended you get in touch with your mentor at least once a month, either by Zoom/phone call, text, email or in person (once state-wide social distancing measures have been lifted). Mentors will be held to the same standard as well.

  • Take advantage! These are Bruins who graduated from UCLA. They’ve been there, done that, some even got two degrees or more! Ask them questions and use the best of your time together. As alumni, we’re all here for YOU.

  • Attend events! There will also be small virtual group meetings and special career/life development webinars throughout the year.

  • Pass it forward. The connection doesn’t end after graduation. We are, after all, the UCLA Latino Alumni Association. You get to be on this side of the party once you’re done with your college experience! Sign up to be a mentor when you become a part of the alumni family as well!

How do we match you?

We’ll do our best to pair mentors and mentees based on interests and career goals. If we don’t find someone who is perfect, we’ll find the next best ideal based on your application’s other preferences. Considering that we’re also opening OrgullOSO to mentors in other states/countries, we have a pretty good set of options.

Mentorship Timeline:

  • Complete the Mentee Application by Wednesday, October 14th.

  • OrgullOSO Mentors and Mentee pairings will be announced by Monday, October 19th

  • Attend a kick-off session the week of October 26th (options in the application).

  • All events will be held virtually until further notice.
