What made you choose UCLA?

UCLA really has it all—a myriad of opportunities, outstanding academics, and a world-class reputation. However, what drew me the most to UCLA was meeting Bruins, whether it was current students or alumni. Every Bruin was incredibly kind, selfless, intelligent, and was focused on achieving a purpose that was greater than themselves. Upon meeting such inspiring individuals, I knew without a doubt that I wanted to become a Bruin.

What areas of study and extracurricular activities are you most interested in exploring?

I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in business economics. My academic interests are economics, business (nonprofits and finance), and English. My current extracurricular interests are running my social enterprise Empower Future Foundation, dance (teaching and learning), investing in the stock market, and working on publishing my second poetry book.

What do you think about current students connecting with their local alumni chapter?

I think it’s very good for current students to connect with their local alumni chapter, because it helps provide motivation and a wonderful support system, especially during these difficult times. When I met some of the BAB members over Zoom in July, I felt supported and encouraged while entering a daunting virtual freshman year. Meeting the individuals in that meeting gave me hope for the future and helped me feel like I belonged at UCLA. UCLA has a strong alumni network, and that is a resource I plan to take advantage of. I am honored to have received BAB’s scholarship award and am really excited to be a part of this amazing community.
