Student-Initiated Admit Weekends - Virtual Experiences

Due to the growing concern regarding COVID-19 and in consideration of the health of our extended UCLA family, Bruin Day and the Admit Weekend Programs will be shifting to a virtual experience. For more information, please contact diversity@alumni.ucla.edu.

Diversity Programs support various student-led, yield admit weekends, where students organize multi-day programs to recruit admitted students. These programs provide admitted students with a holistic view of UCLA and its supportive community as it relates to their identity. Admitted students spend time with faculty, staff and current students while attending a weekend of fun activities, workshops and other community building events to gain a better understanding of what the Bruin experience entails.

Alumni play important roles during these programs by helping to answer student questions, provide insight and experience as well as serve as a guiding resource and example of success for various underrepresented communities here at UCLA. Kabuuang Pilipinx Weeknd for Admits (KAPWA) hosted by Pilipino Recruitment and Enrichment Program

Kababayan Pilipinx Weekend for Admits is an event that invites self-identifying Pilipino high school students that have been admitted to UCLA to spend a weekend on campus to learn what being a college student - more specifically a UCLA Bruin - is all about. Students will engage in college activities first-hand with current UCLA students and their fellow admits. KaPWA will essentially help students engage with our campus in an intimate and unique way. It will also help create a community for the admitted freshmen so that if they decide to come to UCLA, they will already have friends and a network of support. After being exposed to campus culture, residential life, and the resources and opportunities that are available to them, students will be able to make informed decisions on whether or not UCLA is the right place for them.
