The UCLA First to Go office and the First Gen Alumni Network partnered to create a tribute video and virtual celebration toast event to recognize and celebrate the 2021 graduating class of UCLA First Gen undergraduate, graduate and post-doc students. Congratulations to all the new graduates and welcome to the Alumni Association and the First Gen Alumni Network!

In the absence of our traditional Cording event to fulfill COVID-19 Safer-at-Home guidelines, this video was created to acknowledge the remarkable achievement of our 2020 graduating class of UCLA First Gen undergraduate, graduate and post-doc students. We hope they will look back on this year’s virtual tribute as befitting their hard-won achievement.

June 4, 2019

On June 4, we welcomed graduating First Gen students into the alumni network! More than 300 students and 20 faculty, staff and alumni attended the second annual cording celebration at the James West Alumni Center. As alumni bestowed cords upon students, they said, "Congratulations from this First Gen graduate to the newest member of our alumni community." We were filled with pride as we acknowledged and celebrated the students' milestone achievement of going from first in their family to attend to being first in their family to graduate.
